Ozark Mountain Basset Rescue’s
FIRST ANNUAL Basset Picnic!
Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 20th (12 p.m. to 4 p.m.). This will be our annual picnic/fun day for Bassets and our annual fundraiser for OMBR. Meet us at the Rogers Dog Park in Rogers, AR. This park has an on-leash area, but also and off-leash fenced area, so our hounds can run and play – we are very excited! Proceeds from the Picnic will directly benefit our homeless bassets. Find your registration forms, t-shirts and tote bags and directions a little further down on this page.
This is an absolutely beautiful time of year in the Northwest Arkansas mountains. October is when the leaves turn – you cannot believe the colors on the mountainsides! So we urge everyone to come, local folks and out-of-towners. Come enjoy a beautiful weekend of fall leaves and basset fun!
Royalty: This will also be our first-ever crowning of a KING and QUEEN of the Picnic ! Yes, two hounds will be crowned King and Queen during a ceremony at this year’s Picnic. How will they be selected, you ask? Why, by you! The boy and girl hounds whose humans raise the most money in donations will be crowned King and Queen! Please print off our pledge sheet and list all your pledges on it. Remember, your basset can be King or Queen if you have the largest amount in donations!

Activities: We're all set for new basset adventures, lots of socializing, and of course, the best Basset Games! This year’s games will include an ultra-fun costume contest - the Picnic is close to "Howl"-o-ween, after all. We will also have a Chow Hound contest (see how many strange foods you can get your basset to eat!), a Biggest Paws Contest, a Longest Ears contest, and a Best Trick contest! All 1sst, 2 nd, and 3 rd place winners will receive a certificate to hang on their wall!
The RAFFLE! The best part of any basset fundraiser, as everyone can tell you, is the Raffle! We have a TON of great items for our Raffle table, including basset collectibles, gift cards from local businesses, and a pair of round-trip airline tickets to beautiful Tampa Bay, Florida!!! All raffle tickets will be only $1 each or 25 for $20!
Food! We are lucky to have a local Boy Scout group coming to cook hamburgers and hotdogs to buy for lunch. We will also have soft drinks and water for sale at $1 each. Or you can bring your own picnic lunch! Either way, eat at your own risk – there will be LOTS of starving bassets around hoping to steal part of your meal!
Registration: PLEASE pre-register, so we will know how many drinks and hotdogs to buy. Pre-registration ends October 10th. Online pre-registration will end October 15th! Registration is $10 per person or $30 per family in advance (kids under 10 are free, but please include them on the registration form, so we can count them). So save yourself some raffle ticket money and PRE-register now! Drinks will be available for $1 each, or you may bring your own - but no alcohol please! Driving Directions:
From the North (US71), South (540), and West (412) :
From 540, exit 83 (New Hope Road), turn right on 1st St., left on Nursery Road
Alternate directions from 412 and 540 South would be to exit at Cave Springs/Lowell on 284, eastbound. Turn left on 71B and go North to New Hope Rd, Right to 1st, then left on Nursery Road.
Avoid Walnut (Hwy 12 at exit 85) in Rogers at all costs! It's also War Eagle Weekend and Walnut will be bumper to bumper traffic
